While this didn’t start out to be a round the world trip, finding the perfect one way award trip to South Africa put us half way there and an super great fare on Cathay Pacific to Australia with a free stopover in Hong Kong sealed the deal. So we’re off!
When you travel from Hawaii, that first jump is always more like like a long leap. On this adventure, the long leap includes a 10 hour stopover in Seattle before the real travel begins. With all that time, we decided to rent a car and pay a visit to Patrick Choy at his super cute Stonehouse Bakery. Housed in an amazing 1923 building with an original river stone facade, Patrick treated us to his very popular cinnamon bun and a special baked manapua. Loved them both. The bakery is right on Lake Washington with a fabulous view across the water. It really does have the old Seattle feel.
A little drive along the lake was the perfect follow up to our stop at the bakery. For visitors, it is neat to see all the planes taking off and landing on the water. It’s unique to Seattle and adds an a touch of adventure to the idea of commuting. For us, it’s back to the airport to prepare for our long day of travel.
