Getting in on History
The Real Reason
With a new baby in the family and a niece graduating, we carved out some family time with a getaway to Chicago and New York.
The Side Bar
The Chicago Cubs are off to a historic start with their best record out of the gate since 1907. Catching a couple of games at Wrigley Field in a year when they have the potential to change the narrative for the balance of our lifetimes was too good to pass up.
The Outcome
Two games – Two convincing wins – followed by a couple of great days spent with our nephew Brad, his wife Petey, and the convincingly cute Audrey, their lovely 8 month old baby. I would be remiss not to note that their dog Jax, whilst a distant second, was an adorable addition to the scene.
The Big Bonus
A chance to visit with Kenny’s cousin Karen and her family and some time with his Uncle Jerry. Really enjoyed their kid friendly neighborhood with a nature preserve, walking paths, open spaces, and a charming new home.
Final Pleasure
A visit to Wrigley North (Miller Park in Milwaukee) for one more Cubs game before heading off to New York for the second act. Although the temperatures hovered in the 40’s outside, the roof was closed and we enjoyed pleasant conditions for the game. While I wouldn’t trade it for the Wrigley experience, it did make two guys from Hawaii very happy.
