Nice is Next, But First

A Vacation from Our Vacation

With Nice next on our travel road, we decided to take a vacation from our vacation in beautiful Hawaii. We stayed at Kalaekilohana Inn and Retreat, a great inn brimming with local culture and featuring locally sourced food. We were the only guests! Although we are getting ready to head back to our regular vacation, we both agreed this was a super vacation from our vacation. Heck, we liked it so much, we’re planning our return.

Choose Your Metal

The red eye from Kailua-Kona is designed to make early morning west coast connections for those that are traveling on. Many airlines now have a non-stop from our island that serves this purpose. Alaska Airlines has worked hard to serve our island and has 6 non-stop flights from Hawaii to the west coast, but sometimes the connections don’t work as well when you are connecting. With our new loyalty to Alaska Airlines, we are able to earn miles and status on American Airlines as well. So this journey will be solely on American Airlines since they have the best connection through Los Angeles.

…. and then a two hour drive to Moustiers

Sometimes you do things you don’t think you can or should do and it works out just fine. The idea of leaving Hawaii on a red eye on the 9th and arriving in Nice in the afternoon on the 11th may sound a little crazy but, since we were able to enjoy several hours of sleep in the air, it actually worked out that we had more energy for the drive than we anticipated. All in all good flights and a two hour drive through some of the more scenic areas on the way to Moustiers turned out great. Best of all, we were able to wake up and have a nice breakfast as we await the arrival of our friends Anna and Andre.
